Deane’s Oceanfront Lodge

I booked online and got a very good deal. Customer service was nice and you can borrow games or books from the lobby. The beach is right there. The rooms each have a patio and picnic table in back ( no bathtub, at least in my unit). They offered donuts and apple in the morning. Overall a charming place and good value. Would definitely stay again.

Thanks to the Bring Fido app, I found this charming motel last minute along the highway and coast during a long drive from L.A. to Seattle. It was a perfect overnight stop with our pup. After staying a various hotels with little to no pet friendly facilities near the rooms (despite being “pet friendly” hotels), this was perfection with its large grassy property backing up to the beautiful ocean. It felt wonderful taking a couple of walks on the beach and watching the stunning sunset. It was also the only place where we were able to park directly in front of our room, so we felt more secure leaving more of our belongings inside the vehicle. The room itself was clean and quaint and served our needs just right. The only challenges were the smaller bathroom/shower, the doors being difficult to open and close, getting the TV to work, and very minimal breakfast offerings of stale blueberry and strawberry donuts and fruit. My recommendation to the motel is to offer a few more staples like instant oatmeal, cereal, and fresh pastries. Coffee in the lobby was also very disappointing. I would recommend guests plan ahead by bringing food items they prefer to eat (esp. for breakfast) along with them since there aren’t any restaurants reasonably close by. That said, I would absolutely stay here again with a bit more planning now that I know what to expect.

The moment you enter this lodge you can tell the owner treats you as valuable guests as it feels so homy, clean, well organized, and invested as a most unlike motel. You are sleeping in comfy beds, using hardwood furniture, and a well kept and spotless clean bathroom. Your backyard faces the endless Pacific Ocean and your dreams will be filled with the flickering flames in your room fire pit. We enjoyed a very shot one night stay here but would love to come back again and recommend others too.

We stopped here for the night, on our way home, to California. This is our 2nd time staying at Deane's Oceanfront Lodge, newly re-named Tillicum Beach Motel. Upon arrival, my partner tried to check in, at the Office, & nobody was at the desk. One of the workers informed my partner, that someone would return shortly. This is a bit odd, early in the afternoon, but considering it's a small hotel, this minor hiccup is quite understandable. As soon as the lady appeared, my partner ed in, & we occupied the room, entering 1 of their small, but well set-up rooms, with a beachy vibe. Our room had a King Size bed, which was nice, serviceable, but not fancy furniture, a microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker, clock, & small tiled bathroom, just large enough to be functional. The first time I used the toilet, I noticed the water kept on running, & with a little investigation, I noticed the nut, that secures the toilet handle lever was loose, & the whole mechanism just flopped loosely, when I attempted to flush it. I was unable to remedy this, as it appeared the threads on plastic piece were stripped. The biggest selling point of this establishment, by far, is the large grassy area, behind these row-house type rooms, which is great for dog-owners. I love how they placed 4 wooden benches & 2 Adirondack chairs, near the edge of a bluff, overlooking a wide sandy beach, & the ocean just beyond it. There are stairs down to the beach, which rarely has anyone walking on it. My partner & I sat on one 1 of the benches, & watched, what turned out to be a fiery sunset-quite epic! We also like this hotel's close proximity to eateries, in Yachats, like Ona-a restaurant with excellent seafood, as well as it being a short drive from here, to Cape Perpetua, & Thor's Well, best viewed at High Tide, when ocean water surges out of this natural rock cauldron. Anyway, the room, as I said, is quite functional, minus the broken toilet, & it has 2 electric wall heaters, one in the bathroom, for cold mornings, as well as 1 in the small main living space. The following morning, as we prepped to leave, my partner noticed that the conditioner & body wash wall-mounted bottles, in the shower, were both completely empty. Apart from a few annoying little issues, we liked the price of the room, the comfortable bed, & loved the sunset viewing area, overlooking the beach.

We love this place. Have stayed 5 times now! The only thing wrong is the Internet is bad and the bathrooms need exhaust fans. Beach access is great. They are dog friendly.

Here on a motorcycle trip. We love to book roadside motels where we can park outside our rooms to keep an eye on our bikes. This property is situated on the coast with heat views and beach access. Rooms were VERY clean and well kept. But the service is what blew us away. Being on the coast our bikes get very wet overnight from the moisture in the air, we woke up went out to our bikes to start drying them off and the staff had placed 2 clean towels on our seats. This may seem like a small gesture but it made our day! Thanks so much, we will be back

TLDR- Pros: Views, cute, right on ocean with beach access, very pet friendly, very clean, nice staff. Cons- cold (heater didn't work well), 32" TV had dark and light areas so when the movie has low light it's very hard to see, bed is not comfy, poor cell service, stale breakfast. In depth - Cute older motel with oceanfront views and beach access. Very nice beach and view. Cute beachy theme in our room. Older but very clean. Very small but cool glass brick shower in bathroom. Very pet friendly. Bed was not very comfortable compared to my tempurpedic. Laminate floors, and heater system didn't quite keep us warm enough at night, but here was an extra blanket in the closet area. Big covered patio and yard area. Very good for dogs :) They had tea, coffee, apples (old and bruised), oranges, and donuts for breakfast, (donuts were stale Franz box donuts)- unless that's your cup of tea, I wouldn't count the breakfast as an amenity. It's about 3.5 miles to restaurants in Yachats. I had spotty service unable to make a phone call but could text with Verizon. My partner has no service (SOS) with prepaid wireless. They do have Wifi. Overall decent for the price.

I love this place! The staff was super friendly. The rooms were immaculate and nicely set up. The view was amazing. I literally walked right out the back door of my room and was at the beach. It was a little cold and rainy outside, so I didn’t get the full experience but I will be back.
